Through the program we aim to share research, advice, and ideas not only to help you learn the theoretical tools related to communication and intimacy but also the practical tools in order to be able to actually put them to use in real life.
The concept we’re introducing to your toolbox today is a little something called “Love Maps,” which might sound a little cheesy but is extremely important.
The principle of building Love Maps is simply this: knowing the little things about your partner’s life creates a strong foundation for your friendship and intimacy. Not only does it help create an environment of deeper friendship and intimacy, but a stronger and more resilient one at that. The research done by the Gottman Institute shows that couples who have detailed Love Maps of each other’s lives and worlds are much more prepared to deal with, and withstand, stressful events and conflicts.
Read the article to learn how Love Maps work, how they support and strengthen your relationship, and to find out if your current map needs an update.
